Rice Boy by Evan Dahm
How It Begins:
Thousands of years ago, a powerful entity charged The One Electronic and two others to find a Fulfiller to a prophecy that promised the restoration of the world. In that time, every single candidate has failed and their previous choice, Prince Spatch, was their worst decision. Convinced that he was the Fulfiller, Spatch never left his home and began a cult that fervently worshiped him, warring on his behalf.
Upon the death of Spatch, TOE seeks out Rice Boy, a humble plant growing creature, to name him as the new candidate. Rice Boy is not interested, but after TOE leaves, disappointed, he does decide to take his boat downstream to meet with the Tree Keeper.
Elsewhere, the son of Spatch takes his father’s throne, intent that no one should fulfill, but him.
Art:
The art has a sort of simplicity to it that matches the comic well. The world through which Rice Boy travels is often fantastic and probably far more work went into drawing the background of each panel than any other part. There always seems to be a lot going on.
Update Schedule:
This story is completed and can be read from start to finish. There is another comic presently being drawn by the author which updates M/W/F.
